Ok you guys got me fired up on this flocking thing and man does it take forever or what!

First I glued glass eyes on them and know the flocking. I figure doing 6 dozen may take at least 12-16 hours of actually work time no breaks etc.

Hope it is worth it in the end.

Thanks

Have fun man, I just did my 4 1/2 dozen, mostly touch up with doing the tails and it took me about 15 hours of actual work. Its tough to do with the heat and humidity, the paint dries to fast and then you dont get a good result. HAVE FUN!!

Hey boys!! Just curious about how the flocking on the silouettes will hold up because I have 2 dozen Outlaws and a half dozen Real Geese and I always carry them in and out in a FA sillouette satchel. Thinking about flocking them. And also, where do you boys get the flocking? Does it come with directions? Thanks

Killer Miller, You can get the flocking anyplace, Cabelas, MPW and BPS to name a few. Most flocking kits, if not all, come with directions and all the goodies needed for the job.

Heres a SPAM meal for ya. Click on the link scroll down to the bottom next to last item..

Heres a little secret from someone who has flocked literally thousands of decoys. www.donjer.com for the fibers and Rustoleum flat black brush on paint from Walmart. It's the best/cheapest combonation out there. Good luck guys!!

Thanks Chris Jones. I may have to try some of that out. So do you work for a decoy maker or what? Also, have you ever flocked silouette decoy heads? How do they hold up? Like I said earlier, I am thinking about flocking 2 dozen Outlaws and maybe a dozen G&H magnum shell heads. This way all of my goose decoy heads will be flocked. I'm not sure if I like the idea of flocked and non-flocked decoys in the same spread. It did work good last year though. But the flocked heads are so much more visible and better looking. My dad and uncle live by their old BF's, until I brought a half dozen GHG Pro-Grade lookers down. As I was walking back to the car one day, I looked back at the spread of 5 dozen BF's and my GHG's and those heads stuck out like a sore A%%!!!

Yes I do work for a decoy manufacture but that has just been flocking my own decoys over the past 5 or 6 years. We run some big spreads out west here, on some pretty tough birds. So everything you can do to make your spread look better is key. For instance, I also do the tails on all my decoys weather it be floaters or full bodies. I haven't used silo's since the mid to late 90's. Even go as far as repainting the white every year on the cheek patches and under the tail. Let me know if you have any questions be more then happy to help you.
