THis one is for the Pro-Staff.
Based upon past experiences with the Avery products, how many of the 'other guys' colored rafia bales (2.2lbs) does it take to completely cover an X-Lander. I'm looking to load up an X-Lander with something close in color to green winter wheat. Is one 'bale' truly enough?

Well...when I hunted out of a Finisher...I went to WalMart and dropped about $20 on everything I needed to cover it up. 12 packages of rafia grass and a couple bottle of RIT dye (mixed to get close to the right color).
Now that I will be hunting out of the SUB and X-Land'r blinds....I will have to see if what I have covers them....I haven't tried yet. All of my stuff is packed away in the garage and not easily accessible or I would try it right now. I would say the same amount would cover them....no problem.
As for FA Whoopgrass....each package contains enough to make 32 bundles to cover your blind. I would say that with that much and some of the local vegetation you should be good to go....

I forgot about FAs Whoopgrass . . . . .
From Wal-Mart - did you use the 40z packages of Rafia ? Seems to me they are about $1.50/ea.

I don't remember what size packages they were....but I remember they were like $0.99 per package. I don't know if they were on sale or not...sorry!

Hey guys, what the hell is Rafia grass? Is is green? WHat would be good to put on Finishers in a harvested hay field? Would I be able to get enough cover from the actual hay in the field? Cause me and the boys may be hunting one during the early season!!! I'm so pumped!! Gonna buy 16 (or more) new BF's as soon as Scheels gets them in stock!!! I'm gonna put them in my bed and sleep with them until September 1st. Haha just kidding!!

Our crew hunted in a hay field on the opening weekend of early season last year and the sky was falling. The field was about 2 weeks after the last cut and the cover was about 6-8 inches tall. We just walked to the fence line and pulled as man green weeds as we could, dressed up the finishers, and pulled the triggers. Plus there was a standing cornfield right behind us so we got some good hunting footage.

Rush, what kiind of duck is that in the middle of your avatar picture? Blackduck? Me and my uncle cranked one this year on the Mississippi. Only one I have ever seen killed.

Yeah it's a black duck. Would of been a nice one but something must have gotten a hold of its back because it had a nasty spot on it. We shoot a fair number of black ducks around here. Mostly mallards and gadwalls later in the season but last few years we've been getting more and more black ducks and less gads.
