well guys im going to set something straight right now. i DO NOT kill or shoot loons but i do not love the animal like much others, this might seem ignorant to some of you but i think these animals are over populating,, here in ontario canada i cannot go to a lake without seeing at least 6 or 7 of them. i went out to a lake i fish quite a bit today and went into this bay 6 of them SIX,, this is outragious so i was checking things out on youtube cuz i thought i had a problem,, but their was this vid of them on this one lake fifty two of the things all on one lake i could'nt belief what i was seein,, i think if a lake is supporting that many the ministry should step in and remove a few of them do to the fact these thing are just a giant fish duck fish eating bird and i belief to them as being a nuecence at times ,, iv woke up to them stealing lake trout and my bait sucker minnows right from our camp site wile we had them in the water on a stringer and bait in a homade live well,, its just my opinion that here in ontario they should open a season for these things for 2 weeks of a year mabey every 5-10 years, like i said above i would never harm one cuz they are a "protected bird" but why i wonder cuz their on our dollar coin and their such a ''beautiful'' bird and city folk like to see them? i think they are raping our resources of fish and bait fish and are just another cormorant ,, and im sorry if i offended anyone but it is my own personal oppinion and i just had to vent.

wow 6 loons on one lake eh? thats nuts  Im pretty positive there wont be a season as there isnt enough of them around.. im not sure about duck numbers but im pretty positive theres a hundred thousand+ around. I dont think loons come even close to that amount

shootem, I don't care.

We don't see them like you do, but hell I don't see ducks and geese like you either.

Anyone else like to shoot their neighbors house cats when they get outside????

(not that I do  ) this is purely hypothetical

6 loons? Thats it? Loons are not as populated as you may think. Some times yes, they will congregate together but they do not have near the numbers what they should. Now cormorants, thats a different story. They should be open season, Not loons. Sure they eat fish, but they are no where near as bad for damaging an ecosystem compared to a cormorant. Just my opinion. :)

And I second my opinion of shoot whatever you want.

Just don't get caught, and make sure when you tell us about shooting your elusive loons, you say its a "hypothetical" situation, or "off the record"

So you don't get busted. :D

Everybody hates something for one reason or another, I'm gonna get mine, these giant raccoons are going down.
