I personally haven't blown a Showtime, but I know that it was specifically made for competition calling, hence the name. But Im not sure if it is a whole lot different from a SMH with a comp. insert. Maybe someone else knows.

I think the showtime is louder and more crisp. I just got it from the shop a couple weeks ago. When I first blew on it I had to really put some air through it. I 've tweaked on the tuning a little bit but I still don't have it where I want it although it is a lot easier to blow on now. I asked the same question when I called the shop and they told me that the showtime was louder and clearer.

well yes...the Showtime is different from the regular SMH comp insert....
its about a 1/4 in longer....that makes it a little more "mellow" than a regular competition insert... yes....its a VERY LOUD call...sounds great though..
the insert of the Showtime call is more like the Canadian Classic ...
hope this helps clear things up a bit for you guys.....
as far as tuning....try leaving the reed a little bit longer than you would on a SMH.....give that a whirl and see if it makes a difference for ya...
hope this helps.....let us know if you need anything else....

I've got it where I want it now. Actually I do have the reed out a little farther than my SMH and I have the wedge a little farther in on the showtime as well. And hell yeah its LOUD!!! My neighbors love it. The main problem I was having was holding the pitch on the lower notes but its sounds pretty good now. Thanks.
