I would like to purchase a pattern master choke tube. I hunt both water and field for both ducks and geese. I shoot 3"-3 1/2" number 2's all the time. I have a winchester SX2. What is the best tube for me to purchase for these situations?? Please help a brother out.

If your using 3.5" shells the extended tube will pattern the best. If your shooting 3" shells at decoying geese perhaps the standard would better suit your needs.

I shoot an SBE II and I have the extended choke and I use it for everything. Field goose and mallards, divers, teal......it is a bit tighter and takes a bit of getting used to, but it is awesome. If I was you, save your money and put it towards another Foiles Call....just a suggestion...thanks...just my $.02.

So are you telling me to purchase the Pattern master extened or are you telling me to get another foiles call? I have a SMH and a MH already. I use both calls each day in the field.

Sorry if I was unclear, definitely just get the extended choke tube, personally I see no use to have two of them, especially when one does the job. Then you could use the money you were going to spend on the other choke for something else......

I get the picture now. Thanks. Have a good day. How is the rain fall this year in your area. Here in MN we are very dry. All the small potholes and sloughs are dried up. Anything that has any depth to it is a small body of water with huge mud flats. There are alot of resident geese this year and I have not seen a duck in a month.

We are drier than a you know what, a little rain last night, and that was the first in like 3 weeks.....no ducks, and I ain't seen too many geese either....but I think that has something to do with the fact that the crops are so far ahead of schedule and taller, we just ain't seeing em around.

Are crops are ahead of schedual too. As in they are drying already. But the bad thing is there is nothing to them. Half as tall as they should be. Most wheat fields are being harvested right now. That is about a month ahead of schedual around here. Might be a problem come early season when the wheat grounds are sprayed or the nice green growth is to high for the geese to feed in. Time will tell. One positive for the goose situation is that alot of farmers are turning their corn into silage this year. Great for open corn fields to hunt. Bad for not to many cobs will be left on the ground for feed. I can only hope a few cobs fall off the wagon!! Cheers

Hey Nick....

Not seeing many geese up there? There are a ton down here in the south western subs of st paul. Woodbury is loaded with the in town. If ya ever make it down this way, we should hook up for a hunt. I missed you at Sportsmans Warehouse by about 3 min.

Warden....

Are all the small waters really gone? Can a guy still hunt on Greene Lake? I heard that at one time you could.

Green Lake? Which one are you talking about? There are like 200 of them in MN. I shouldn't say all bodies of water have dried up. There is water. But all of the 2 foot deep one's in central MN are down to maybe an inch or gone. All rivers I have seen are down a foot or 2 or more. Rain has been very little in the last 2 months.

My question about green was can you still hunt it. I know there is water there, my cousin-in-law...lol...lives on green.

They said that people used to hunt it, but don't know if you still can.

Takem- I talk to them all the time, they haven't seen anyone hunt on the lake in a few years. This is why I'm curious.

I have beenin contact with them, since I wil be hunting on my cousins soon to be in-laws land on Sunrise Lake in Lindstrom.

yeah i know alot of the lake associations in that area are trying to close the lakes to hunting because they are all being built on with new homes and more homes and they dont want peaple shooting where they live or have families
