2002 Silverado Z71, 5.3 V8, Forest Green W/ Silver, Fully Loaded, 80,000 miles. Mint Shape.

What would this Truck be worth on a Private Sale (average) in the US. Its worth about $15,000 here in Canada. The guy is asking $16,500obo.

With gas prices the way they are, if you can get it dirt cheap, take it.

I would take it. Seems like a good price and should get pretty good gas mileage.

Nice truck but, do a search on kbb.com. Private party suggested retail is $11.750 in excellent condition for my area.

Couple things to consider, have it checked out by a professional mechanic at an independent garage with a good reputation. Also have them run a TSB printout on all the problems these trucks have.

The 5.3 engines have an inherent knock in in 80% of the engines that GM knows about and will do nothing to fix, also they have "sun shell" failures in the transmissions all the time, about 3 Grand to fix with the updates. Believe me I see these problems all the time "my line of work".

Heres the search I got through www.kbb.com , not tryin to burst your bubble, just some of the things you should know.

To me the price seems a little high. Theres a local dealer around here In PA that sells 07 Dodge Ram 1500's with 10-25k miles for $16,000-17,000. At 80k miles, I wouldnt think the truck would be more then 10-11k at most, you see what blue book says the price is, and with gas prices, trucks and suv's are not selling or worth what they were to people

For a 2002 I would tell him 12,000, They aren't worth that much, especially with the deals you can get on new trucks these days. Gas is going up, so truck prices are low.

16 sounds way high to me. Do some research like the add that was posted on here, bring printouts of other trucks like the one you are purchasing. If you show him adds that are selling the same truck for 10 to 12 thousand, he really can't argue with you offering 12 thousand.

This way you can say, I'm not low balling you and offering 10, I am offering a fair price going with the max others of the same condition are selling for.

Your proof should surprise him, and you will pull off a better deal.

Went to look at the Truck. It's not as good as the picture. The truck was in good shape but the box was all messed up. Had been in an accident. The body work was done but very poor job. He is asking top dollar for the truck and its not in Mint Shape for the age. Ah well I'll just keep the truck that I've got. Same 2002 Silverado but two wheel drive. Mint Shape.

The chevy 5.3's have a lot of problems with intake manifold gaskets. If the truck idles unsteadily at idle, replace the pcv valve, and than if it still does it, its most likely the intake gasket.

Besides that they are badass engines, small, but they got ass.

My dad has one, but its two wheel drive, with 3.73 gears in the rear. He gets like 17 average out of it.

But its all stock.
