Hi guys, Im fairly new to competetion calling and im putting together a routine. But ive been having a big problem getting a good rolling feed call. Ive been using the tica tica method but i cant do it fast enough to get the sound i want. Is this the way its you guys who blow in comps. do it? Does anybody have any tips or a better method on how to do this? THanks , Ridge

I use ticka ticka, also use dooga dooga, you can only get faster with practice, no getting around it! :? How soon are you calling in a contest?

Try gaagaagaagaagaa, googoogoogoogoogoo, guuguuguuguuguu gu.The middle of your tounge should be like a vibrater. Try sticking your tounge in your bottom front teeth but it will still be moving some .also use air from down low.guguguguguuuguguguguguguuguguguguguguguu.Good luck

There are many ways/words to get a rollin feed call.....I personally do not use any word reference to make a sound in a duck call or my short reeds......thats just me. It really doesn't matter how you get the sound so long as you get it. This is an easy one to practice to get faster, because you don't need the call to work on it.....you can just sit at your desk, at the wheel of your vehicle or wherever, just practice flipping that tongue up and down as fast as you can and do that til you notice it getting faster. Thats really the only advice avaialbe for this one, you need to keep doing it til reach the speed you think will work for you.

Personally, you don't need a SUPER fast feed, from my experience it really isn't judged that critically, it just needs to be there. I would get proficient at a mediocre speed and work on putting drag quacks, and mixing it up a bit. Just my advice, take it for what its worth, hope this helps.....Let us know how its going or if you have any other questions!!

Nicks right, I think in a actual comp. routine, just do what you can already do cleanly, work on your transitions to make them smooth. Faster is not always better if you struggle with it or are not smooth in your transitions. Like anything the more you do it the more proficient and faster you will get. Practice, practice, practice. I've heard of many guys who will practice their routine with out a call, Just calling it out (almost like your blowing into the back of the call). It will create memory of your routine, so if something distracts you when you're calling you won't loose your train of thought, etc. Work on your time also, record yourself on tape or even better on a soundfile on your computer (it has a built in timer of your recording), and you can hear any areas that need work or how smooth your transitions are, etc. I think if you do that regularly, you'll be amazed how much better you'll sound after a little while. Good luck!

Ya, forgot about that as well, I go through my whole routine at times without a call, like sittin back in the bullpen waiting....just go through it your head really helps.....bottom line, just gotta practice, and then practice some more, and when you think it is just perfect, keep on practicing!!!!
