I have allot to report, it is almost 1am and I have finally settled down inside, words cannot describe the way that I feel after this weekend. I want to thank Team Longneck and all of the friends of the Team that have made the 2008 Pa Expo possible. In my opinion this was the best chemistry ever displayed at any outdoors show I have ever seen. From the great vendors, the staff that organized all of the events, the kids, the parents, the dogs, you name it, it all fit into one perfect weekend.
It started Thursday afternoon at the grounds when we arrived to get things laid out and make our plan of attack for Friday’s preparations. When we got to the grounds the owners were erecting a building and promised that it would be complete that evening. They were right, when we rolled in Friday it was all ready for the show. The team and a handful of volunteers worked for many hours putting the finishing touches on all of the groundwork. Tents were raised, stages wee built and decorated and signs were hung. It was followed by a Team meeting at Shawn and Stacy’s house. At the conclusion of the meeting one of the biggest storms I have seen rolled in, we moved the festivities to Bob and Missy’s house and took care of a lot of team business and laid out our plans for Killin’ Time 4.
When the sun rose Saturday, vendors were pulling in ready for set up. A smooth set up was followed by the arrival of our special guest, Sean Mann who after his flight was canceled in Baltimore, decided to make the drive to Mercer overnight. After all of the cancellations and things that have happened that had to be overcame, this one action of driving through the night to hold his word reinforced everything that we have heard about Sean Mann.
The calling contests went off great, the seminars went great, and despite a little rain here and there we had a very good day. The youth seminar sponsored by FA (Mark Spence) with Hunter Cummings and Zach Mines was fun to watch.
Sunday started with a beautiful sunrise to a blue sky and we were blessed with a great Western Pa day. The retriever test was allot of fun and very interesting. The “Dad and Me” calling contest sponsored by Zink was simply amazing and the pieces of the giant puzzle all fell into place.
It was the first time that I have seen all of the brand name guys drive for the same goals, it was smooth and flawless.
I have a lot more to say and about 300 more pictures to share, but it is late and I need some rest.
Thanks to the ones that made it all fit, all of the volunteers, speakers, guests and vendors. Most of all I want to thank Team Longneck for once again showing the world what your made of. Brian
