i've always had a lab or lab mix so its kinda hard to say cause i havent had any others really...my dad got an american water spaniel...he looks kinda goofy but hes a nice dog.

The area I live has nothing to do with what dog I choose. I happen to have owned three and my Dad has a yellow lab right now. The Chessies I owned would out work any Lab I've hunted over. No matter the conditions. A little stubborn sometimes, but im my opinion they are the most loyal, hard charging retriever. I also am lucky to hunt over my Dad's Lab Nikki...and she is fabulous in the water. Favorite..Chessie..but Labs are great as well.

It's a shame there are only Chessies on the East Coast. :shock: I didn't know that but I appreciate the knowledge. :wink:

Personally I use a Brittany! He is the best waterfowl dog i have ever had! My dad has a cheasapeake and he is awesome to! Great someone has a cheasapeake in the mid west! lol my brittany is a water dog hardcore!

I wish I had a dog. The guy that taught/teaching me to hunt has had 3 chesapeakes. If I had to get a dog chesapeake would be it, big block headed tulie buster.
