Get what you can afford to drive, gas or diesel, fuel prices, payments and maintenance. None of which are cheap right now.

Just my $.02

if you have a use for a diesel and can afford it i say go for it. dont buy a diesel just to buy a diesel. like sgtsltr said you gotta go with what you can afford. im 22 now and have had nothin but half tons. would a diesel be nice yeah but do i need it not right now. the most i ever pull with my truck is a boat or maybe an occasional car trailer loaded down with a duck blind.

This is a funny story about Phil's tranny...

Bad things happen when you slam the truck in reverse and slam the gas pedal down before it lands in gear.....he he he ha ha ha.

I think that was the order of deconstruction.

But we have a new tranny in it now. So he can back up now.

I'll be shure to never slame the truck in reverse like that . I do alot of 4 wheeling in the swamps and I use my friends jeep would the dodge be ok if I took it 4 wheeling?

I'm sure it would be ok. I'm not one to do that in my truck much anymore. Got way to expensive when I ran my 71 3/4 Chev. I won't get into the specs on that.

Most people that I know are running older solid front axle pickups or Jeeps.

As far as running in fields and what not, it has no problems. I'm sure it would have no problems in the mud. I have a buddy that used to wheel his dodge in the mud, and had no problems.

I would still stick to what you can afford. Things aren't going to be getting cheaper anytime soon. Gas here just took a $.30 jump yesterday. I also heard that there is a chance of seeing $5/gal gas. No word on how soon that would happen, but I wouldn't be suprised.

No problem.

I have to say that it is a very nice truck. Comfortable, smooth and the duals on it are deep and freeking loud! Almost too loud, but it sounds great! It is the Sport model, so it has the paint matched full front bumper. Very nice.

Well i guess since i sell cars and trucks for a living , I would say if you can afford a Disel it is the way to go, Better resale value, better mileage for the power you get, and If your getting a Dodge it has a cummings disel in it which is one of the best disel motors made. If you can't afford it, get whatever you think you can handle, but i would check on insurance first, it's not cheap for someone your age, i would suggest you getting your parents to put you on their policy as a second driver.. I sell a lot of cars to guys in the military at ft campbell ky, sometimes for guys 18 or 19 years old and no previous insurance ,, their insurance payment is higher than their car payment, just a suggestion i deal with it everyday..
