View Full Version : Which Way?
In the foiles duck 2.0 vid, he says you should have the reed with the bow up.
Does that mean the side that slides easy facing up, or down.
Got me a little confused.
Thanks

All reeds have a natural bow to them.
Meaning, if you pinch the reed between your fingers it will bend one way, if you turn it around and pinch it again, it will bend the same way. That is the natural bend, and the natural bow to it.
You want the reed sitting so that the natural bow, or bend is up on your tone board.
Generally
So when you pinch it in between your fingers (gentle, don't crease it) the two ends will point up, and you want that side to face up when you put the reed on your tone board.

PLace the reed on a flat smooth surface, like a counter top. Give it a little "flick" with a finger. If it spins freely, then pick it up, the side that was on the counter should be on the toneboard.
If it doesn't spin freely, flip it over and try again.
Daytona, good luck.
