I'm going to buy a couple of calls, what is the dif. between the two should I get both or get one and a smm or what. Also can you run a double reed and a single reed in the same stopper in the timber or dead meat?

I haven't messed with dead meat mallard much , But i use the timber rattler and i have had it a single reed and a double reed with the same stopper, it's an awsome call, i'm sure someone else will comment on the dead meat mallard that has used it more than i have.

Either one of the TR or DMM is a awesome call. I absolutely love my DMM, great range and very raspy. Very easy to blow call also. If I were to vote for one or the other, I'd probably have to go with the DMM. I also run the SMM, it is a great call also, but more of a big water call, very loud and a little tough on the low end, but still a great call. Good luck, let us know.

I have the DMM in DR and you are able to pull the top reed out and make it a SR with the same stopper. Sounds great both ways! I haven't blown the Tr or SMM much. So, my vote would go for the DMM.
Just my $.02

Thought I'd also add, that the inserts for my SMM single reed and DMM double reed are interchangeable, I change them around sometimes for different sounds.

straitshooter...
the TR and the DDM are BOTH awesome calls.....you can't go wrong with either one....
difference wise...I would say the Dead Meat has a little more "balls"
even the double reed you can "get on it" a little more than the TR...in my opinion...try to check them both out and just pick the one that suits you best....
hope this helps....

Thanks guys!
That's what I wanted. I'm leaving the call company that I was on there prostaff and looking hard at the Foiles line of duck calls. No stores in the central Kentucky area sell Foiles so test driving will be hard. I'm going to blow this year in the world live duck in Md and looking for a call that is very real sounding. I also hunt in north east Ar. in timber and well I need a call to do it all.(that's why I'm looking at both) I'm going to catch alot of crap for blowing a call not built in Ar. but what's life without a little controversy, the last time I saw some guys blowing non Ar. built calls down there the words DAMN YANKEES came out alot so we'll see LOL I've blown Foiles goose calls for 7yrs now and I'm lookinf forward to getting the new duck calls. So from the last reply I can run a TR for the woods and use the DM for both timber and open stuff in single reed, then switch to double for softer work?

You could use both calls in either situation. I know that I'll be using my DMM all around. You can go pretty low with the DMM. LIke I started earlier, not much time with a TR. I know if I buy another duck call it will be the DMM in single reed.

If you hunt open water and timber I would go with the dead meat. You can get loud if need be in the open and can also get low in the timber. The timber rattler is a great call and can be used in the open but in my opion I would go with the dead meat I think it is the best call on the market.

I have 2 Dm and 4 Trattler's.Their both awsome call's.Both call's are really close. You can reach them migrators with the tr no doubt about it.Just depends on how the call is tunned.Deadmeat has a little more volume though cause the insert hole is a little bigger.Just buy both. You can never have enough call's,decoy's'clothes or money lol Good luck

Thanks Gary, but Uncle Lees is about 2.5 hrs, Paducah is 4 as is Hoptown and Nashvegas. There is a new store in Lexington that sells waterfowl calls RNT,Zink,Tim G.,Quack Wacker Avery, GHG, Drake and all the others. I tried to get them to pick up Foiles Goose calls only becouse one of the for mentioned companys I was on staff for duck and well they felt they had enough call lines. I'm now trying to get them to drop one and pick up the full line of Foiles. Thanks though for the offer, if you are ever up in Lex. to watch the ponys at Keenland tell me and we'll MEAT ( get it ). I talked to big Shawn and we setteld the questions I had so I'm buying tha TR, DMM, and the SS.
Thanks again
