Short comp, long comp and Showtime inserts. The short comp seems to be a little faster and louder than the long comp, but that could be in the way mine are tuned.

Might be a dumbass question but r the short comps physically shorter in length then the long comps or r they just bored out differently? Thanks

and to try and get an idea how much more open they are than a standard SMH insert

Like stated above, the short comp is a little faster and louder.

I have found that the short comp insert has great value for me due to its bore. I have been blowing my showtime constantly all summer long. When I switch back to my SMH i find myself sticking the stock insert due to the bore. With a standard i force more air into the call than what can clear the insert and so it sticks. When i put my short comp insert in i maintain the same length and feel but allow myself to use more air. One thing i have found about the insert is that it tends to not back pressure as much. I have found and know alot of guys that for years have been putting the showtime insert (or long comp) into SMH mouthpieces. They got louder and still maintained the same amount of back pressure feel for the most part. When you remove the longer comp insert for the shorter one you instantly feel the air start moving through much faster. Alot of guys that have blown my call say that they cant feel the calls "back bone" as much. If you blow alot of air the short comp is a great option to keep in your bag. I like to leave mine in the bag for days when I am really warmed up and getting way to excited in the blind. Instead of sticking a call or pulling out the showtime i can simply pull my stock insert out of the SMH and put in the short comp. In my opinion a person can never have to many options when in the blind. You never know when you will have to make a change in the field to either get louder, lower, or quieter.
