Hey ya'll... my boyfriend and I love to go goose hunting, and up until now, I haven't blown a call in the field. I practice when I'm alone, and driving in my car, and I know I need some help. Does anyone have some tips for a beginner? I can do the basic "who-it" but it's not great, and beyond that, I'm a bit lost :( I'd love to impress the boyfriend this season when I can call in more honkers than he can ;) so any helpful tips will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!

I would also recommend that your call is tuned properly to you. What brand of call you blowing? Another suggestion would be to go to the Grand Kankakee Goose calling comp. in Hanna, IN, not to far from you. It is Sunday Aug. 13th from at 1:00. Some of Foiles prostaff will be there, and some other good callers, who I'm sure will be willing to help you out with tuning your call, and give some advice. By the way, got any sisters? Got to love a woman who loves to hunt geese! Just kidding, I'm happily married! Good luck to you!

I have three tips for ya, that is if you are blowing a short reed goose call....
1. Keep the tip of your tongue anchored at the base of your bottom front teeth.
2. Don't "blow" into the call. The air needs to come from your diaphragm..."warm" air. Do NOT puff your cheeks out, keep them tight.
3. Make sure you are holding the call properly....allowing air to escape the insert and resonate in the cavity you are creating your hands and then escape from that cavity.
If you have some specific questions, please feel free to PM or email me at straitmeatkilla@hotmail.com.
Hope those helped a little!!!!

Also, get a copy of Jeff's instructional CD, blowing a call in the car is where I got a lot of practicing done when I was a beginner.
Another instructional tool I wore out were Foiles' hunting Videos, I would watch and try to make the sounds they were making on the video.
But, a piece of advice, don't get discouraged, don't try to do it all in a short time, the speed, sounds, and ease will come with practice, oh, and of course, buy a Foiles call, they extremely easy to learn on. Work on one sound, get it down good, and move on to the next.
Good Luck....anymore questions, don't be afraid to post up.
