Just wondering, but what exactly is a Lesser Goose?? Is there any around the Southwest Kentucky??? How do u notice them? I take it they fly the same and sound the same as a Canadian? Thanks...

Just google search it and you'll get all you need. Depends where you hunt but they're usually quite a bit smaller then regular honkers, much shorter necks. As far as sound, they're just basically higher pitched cause they;re smaller.

I live in lessser central...we shoot about 80% lessers on our hunts and we have a 4 goose limit...they sound about the same as a honker but there honks are more nasally and higher pitched....not sure about your area's and the population...joe

Ive shot some here in Nebraska that werent much bigger than a mallard

Isn't a lesser canada considered any canada goose like 4-8 pounds at adulthood??? Or that is their general weight...

Cacklers are what you are talking about if they are the same size as mallards, I shot a couple last year that were between 2 and 3 pounds.

The one cackler had a neck that was only like 2" long, just an awesome bird.

There are a few different breeds too. Like the Taviers, Hutches, and a few others

I think there is like 11 subspecies of canada geese. I could be wrong on the number but it is somewhere around there. :D
