I have started scouting for the 06-07 season and I have herd of a "topo map" company that lists the names and phone numbers of land owners, if any body knows the name of the map company and wear I can get one of those maps ?

They are Plat maps and I guess you can get one at Farm Bureau.

Plat Book, you usually get them at your county's soil office.

i think you can also get them at your court house.

They are only available here at the soil and water conservancy offices. Definitely a invaluable tool to scouting! They only list the property owners names, so you'll have to track down the phone numbers to contact the people. We had a field a couple of years ago that had about 300 geese in it every evening, so I used my plat map to find the owner's name, then I tried to find her phone #, but couldn't. Well one of the other fields was owned by her son (I guessed it was the same last name), so I looked him up and called and he was able to give me her #, she lived in a retirement home in Illinois, and I contacted her and was able to get permission to hunt the field, so it is a helpful tool to start to contact the people. A lot of times your public library will have a copy, and if they are nice about it they will let you make copies, it beats paying $20 or $25 bucks for one.

Once you find the name of the person who owns the land you can go to the courthouse and they will look up the phone number for you.
