View Full Version : 3.5" #4
GOT A CHANCE TO GET SOME OF THESE DIRT CHEAP LEFTOVERS FROM 2 YEARS AGO AT A SMALL STORE ARE 4 GONNA WORK ON NORTHERN MALLARDS WHEN THEY START COMMING DOWN. I THINK THEY SHOULD DO FINE BUT I ALWAYS USE 2 THAT TIME OF YEAR. I SOMETIMES USE 3" 4 EARLY ON AND THEY DO FINE. ANYONE USE THE 4'S ON BIG LATE SEASON GREENHEADS.
THEY AER FASTSTEEL 1 3/8 OZ 3.5" #4 BY THE WAY

I've shot giant canadas with #4's in a 3" shell late in the season, it all depends if your getting them in the hole before you shoot or trying to kill birds at 50 yards...

at 1 3/8 oz, you'll have plenty of pellets to knock down even the most feathered greenhead
You should jump on them if it's a good deal.I shoot 3" 4s as much as possible and I got two buddies that shoot that exact Kent bullet your talking about on everything from Oct. Bluebills to Canadas in Jan. If you kill your birds at less than 40 yds. you won't be dissapointed !

I'm with the rest of the guys....if you can get a bunch cheap, buy them and shoot them. Like Kyle said, that's a lot of pellets....it's a heavy payload AND the shot size is small so you should get a very dense pattern depending on what choke you plan on shooting. I'd be skeptical about shooting any further than 35-40 yards with 4's though....the pellets are so small and light that they loose their energy (velocity) quicker than larger pellets, making them less lethal at longer ranges. Any range inside that, those loads will flatten 'em.
yea they are great...but i prefer 2's myself
