I saw this a while back and have been thinking about it. Curious to see your thoughts.

Tuesday, July 18, 2006 – Flambeau, Inc., parent company of Flambeau Outdoors™, is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Lohman M.A.D. Group product lines from Kolpin Outdoors, Inc. Flambeau completed the asset purchase of these brands of products on Monday, July 17. The purchase includes the products, brands, inventory, and equipment of the Lohman M.A.D. Group, as well as the manufacturing facility in Neosho, Missouri.

Flambeau has been around for ages and have always been a huge player in the decoy market. With this move it appears that they have the feather flex line of decoys from Kolpin. Is it a matter of time before they make a move to purchase the other decoy line from Kolpin .... Final Approach? :?:

Why would they purchase another plastic decoy company when they already are one? Not like they cant do their own molds if they wanted to jump into the "more realistic" market.

Too much speculation to me! It seems to me that Lohman wasn't a profitable venture and Kolpin probably wanted to unload it.

I think you have to look at business dollars put to use as well as name brand recognition. People hear flambeau and certain things come to mind... Now, I can start my own carvers making a better decoy and start that whole process and it is going to cost me XX dollars. Then I have to market it. there is another XX. Then I have to make people believe it is the best thing. So overall business investment would be XXXX.

OR, I can flat out buy another company that I already have a good business relationship with. Grab their decoy line that is already doing what I want to do. All for YYYY. So, which is more feasible?

It is a lot of speculation. But companies change hands all the time in the business world. And Everything is for sale for the right place.

And as far as why would they buy something when they are already doing it? Why did Beretta buy Benelli? Why did Cabelas buy the herters line? Why did Ford buy Lincoln and mercury? Why did Chevy and GMC join, and then buy GEO? How does positrack work? It just does....

Anyway, I was not trying to start a rumor mill, more just a different sided conversation. Something to spark thoughts outside of the normal threads.

From what I have seen and just my take on the matter, I have no proof and can not back any of this up. Kolpin through final approach entered into a partnership with a call maker, and now has a call branded with the FA name, FA is also one of the most profitable of the companies that Kolpin owns, therefore why have a second company that doesn't bring in as much revenue, competing for the same market dollars as one of your more poular and profitable companies?

I have no insider info on this, but I would bet that you won't see Final Approach become a division of Flambeau any time soon.

And you could have said the same thing about avery last year. I am not trying to debate who is with who. I would also use the word "partnership" loosely. Partnership emplies that both individuals have a say in how the company is run, it's profits, and its debts. Although, it can also mean that there is a relationship of two companies conducting business for mutual benefit. Which very well could be a good description.

By call branded, did you mean that there is going to be a Foiles FA call? will the FA name appear on a call itself?

I guess I always looked at it more as a sponsorship deal. One company pays another company through some means for using their name. Much like Nascar. Anyway, that was totally off topic.

Flambeau is a leader in plastics and plastic making.... I'd be curious to hear where Final approach makes or gets theirs at.

Like I said, I was not trying to speculate on anything. Not trying to ruffle feathers. Do I see flambeau picking them up anytime soon, nope. But it makes for an interesting off season topic to discuss.

The soundfiles and pics of that call have been on the site for months.

Which call is it? I have yet to see one. I was at KC this weekend and there was not one call there that "Final Aproach" anywhere on the call itself. :?:
