I've shot mostly Xpert Hi-Velocity 3" 1 1/8 oz. 1550 fps in 2's and 3's on ducks the last few years because me and my dad got deals on a few cases. I think it did just fine, but I personally am liking the Kent Fasteel these days. The only thing I heard bad about the Xperts was that the shot isn't spherical and doesn't pattern that well. I never did pattern it though, all I know is when I hit a bird, it seemed to fall just as hard as any other shotshell. I wouldn't be scared to shoot more of it. I would say go for it, like I said I liked the 3 inchers in 1 1/8 oz. cause they are 1550 fps and speed kills!!

In all honesty....ALL I shoot is the X-Pert Hi-Velocity steel in 3.5", 1 3/8 oz BB for geese and #3 for ducks. I love the stuff!!! I just got my cases delivered from Cabelas last week!!!

I shoot it out of an SBE II with a WW SUPREME or SWAT12 chokes....the patterns are sweet (80+ % at 40 yards!!!).

A lot of people knock it....but I can say that it is all I have shot for the past 3 years and I have had tremendous luck with it!!!

I love the stuff and having shot several triples last year no problem. Just like any other shell if you are on them they fall.

I still have 3 cases of it from years ago when it was 7 bucks a box.

THe spherical issue? I read an article last year where a company was developing a new load and was puposely using non spherical shot in it.Through their research they discovered that the patterning issue was that big of a difference, but they also discovered that non-spherical shot actually delivered more energy (foot lbs) down range then spherical shot did. So I generally allways use Winchester Steel but am not totally set on Supremes, DryLocks or Xpert, in my opinion all three do very well at getting the job done. So I have no problems with shooting the Xpert steelto save a buck or two.

Another vote for the Expert Hi-Velocity here! It's all we use, and I'm not complaining! We kill plenty of birds with it. I use 3.5" BB for geese, and 3" 2's and sometimes 3" 4's for ducks. Last year I was shooting it thru a factory improved choke on water over the dekes and it'll hit whatever you shoot at within 30 yards. Shot it thru a factory modified for geese and did fine. This year I got a new PM for my Benelli, so anxious to see if there's any difference. So definitely save you some money and shoot it up! Several years back Winchester had a deal going where you got $10 a case rebate, and we had a local retailer selling out (Galyan's), so they discounted it to like $50.00 a case, plus the rebate of $10.00 from Winchester, it was $40.00 a case. Man I kick myself now for not buying all they had! Didn't think steel would be so expensive back then!
