How old is your call? I'm sure the guts are probably fine. I don't know about pro staffers, but I'm sure we can probably talk you thru tuning it. PM me if you'd like.

If I were you I would send the call to shop and explain the problem. If you send it in the next day or two I am pretty sure they can get it back to you by the 1st. If you explain what is going on with the call I will try to walk you threw tuning it. Just let me know whats wrong.

Make sure the reed just barely sits inside the oval part of the guts. If it overlaps that, it won't break over. If its not snug enough, it won't sound right either. Moving the smaller green piece of the guts closer or further along the actual tone board piece will make the call deeper/slower or higher/faster. I personally have my SMH tuned so I can get fast on it. I also like it that way because early season is coming up and there are alot of young geese around and my call sounds like a younger goose. But I like hunting with several different call sounds. Example, my uncle is pretty good on his SMH. He has it tuned deep because he is a big guy and can handle alot of air pressure. So when me and him call, we sound like young geese and adult geese. Just my 2 cents
