I had a good friend of mine ask if I had heard anything about a 30 day season with a 3 bird limit, or a 40 day season with a 4 bird limit. He informed me that both Delta Waterfowl, and DU had stated that one of these situations was going to be in effect in the 2009-2010 waterfowl season. The reason is due to the high cost of grain. The CRP is being turned back into farmland. Just wondering if anyone other than here in TN has heard this.

my father in-law is a farmer with crp land, and he hasn't mentioned anything like that to me.......yet. But that's MS not TN. hope its not the case cause 3 and 4 bird limits could very possilbly be conquered in the first or second volley. By the time you get your decoys out at first light, you'll be picking them back up. Hate to hear that if its going to be the case

I was talking nationally, with crp land in Canada a nation wide shorter season and nation wide lower limits.

From what I heard from DNR Biologist that the Missippi Flyway is in for another 6 bird-60day season. But I think in the near future we will be on a 4 bird - 45 day season thats if the breeding population doesn't increase.

if they end up doing that your going to see the same types of hunters leaving waterfowling as you saw when the point system was in effect

There has been some talk of a shorter season in Illinois, but I haven't heard anything about lower limits. I don't want the seasons shorter, but they will do what they want to as far as that goes. No matter how long the season is, I'm still gonna hunt every available day that I have!

Somebody better look into making CRP a viable option again. It has been working for the animals we need to keep it up. Time to start writing your Congerssmen.
