A "Strait Meat" deal is when your at a spot and the spot's right, the decoys are right, the wind is right, the birds are doin' it right, and you grind 'em up. That's a "Strait Meat" deal!

It's an old guide'e term used in Illinois. If you have the Strait Meat Sounds CD, Jeff goes into pretty decent detail on the meaning of the term.

HEY KELLY...DO I SMELL A CONTEST??? Similar to the one on WWS last year!!!

Nope that was just me, the wife made chili.

Strait Meat is an old guide/market hunter term for a pile of dead mallards or a honey hole full of 'em. Spence was right on the money.

Jason:

Your definition of a "Strait Meat Deal" is accurate. I was just trying to explain what the term "Strait Meat" was, by itself.

Basically STRAIT MEAT is what you NEED to kill birds...no frills or funny stuff....just the bread and butter....clucks, moans, and feeding growls - putting birds on the deck 10 yards out 5 feet up - that is STRAIT MEAT.

So, Jason, you are right....a STRAIT MEAT DEAL is when everything comes together as planned....the decoys are perfect, the calling seals the deal, and the birds are all working right into kill hole, good shooting and BAM - you have yourself a STRAIT MEAT DEAL!!!!

Thanks. That's pretty cool. I thought it had something to with the design of the call.
