Greetings all, just got my first Foiles call, a Meat Grinder in camo. Waiting on my dvd to arrive to start honkin away. Great community on here, can't wait to get good at callin and share some tips and stories. Anyway, the new grinder should be the cause of many a dead goose.

Welcome to the forum! Enjoy your call. You will find out that your going to want one of each in no time. Like HH said, ask any questions that you may have. You will get plenty of tips, tricks and ideas.
Just a small tip from past experiences.....Spence can attest to this.....Hunting season, as you know, is right around the corner. It may take a little bit of time to get answers when the season is on......just a tip.

The MG (bourbon/clear) was my first Foiles as well. Smart move getting the DVD. It made all the difference for me.
JB's right about "wanting one of each in no time". A couple of months after the MG purchase I bought an SMH (chocolate/tan) and now I'm starting to agonize over a TR or the new Dead Meat Duck Call. I'm sure, in the end, I'll wind up with both.
Have a good season.

Congrats on the MG...great little call. Very versatile and my bet is that call will remain on your lanyard once you decide to upgrade to acrylic calls...it is just too good to part with (trust me  )!!!

So can someone tell me more about tuning this thing? What can tuning it one way or the other due in terms of sound and how easy it is to blow? Thanks.

Since it's a new call for you, I would wait and give the DVD a fair shake. I was wondering the same thing when I first bought my MG because I couldn't initially get the sounds I was looking for. Fifteen minutes into that DVD and it was like a change of life experience. Jeff does such a great job illustrating the techniques that, even if you've never held a call in your hand, the DVD will have you making the essential "meat-hunting" sounds in no time. I'm glad I never tried tuning mine because I probably would have screwed it up.
If, after the DVD, you still can't blow the basic call sounds, then I would re-visit the tuning issue. I have no experience with tuning a call, so I can't help you there. Sorry.
