Hey guys new to the forum, looking to buy my first Foiles call. Been looking at the legend double reed, just wondering which was better the wood with poly insert or the all poly one? And what are the differences in the two other than one having a wood barrel and the other having a poly barrel? Any info would be greatly appretiated. Thanks in advance.

Chad81:

I have been running the wood/poly (hedge/poly) double reed Legend for two years now. That call NEVER leaves my lanyard. Between that call and my new DMM, there isn't a duck around that has a chance

Okay...seriously - The biggest differences, other than appearance, are the wood/poly calls will give you a bit mellower, more nasally, old hen sound than the polys and the barrel of the wood/poly call is a little shorter. Both calls will get the job done, but I feel the sound from the wood/poly legend is duckier than the straight poly call.

If you want to hear a sound file of the wood/poly legend versus the sound of live ducks, shoot me a PM and I will hook you up with a link!

Chad, I second what Mark said about the Legends.....I too always have my Wood/Poly Legend on the duck lanyard. Also, there is the new Poly FA Jeff Foiles Signature Series SeDucKtion ($30.00 I think) that is also a real good duck call for the price. I think there is a sound file of it on the Foiles site too.....check it out, and let us know if you have any further questions, or what you decide....good luck, you will do great with any of the calls!!!!!!!

What Mark and Nick said is absolutely right. The wood/poly legend is a must have call for every duck hunter's lanyard.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.
