Can any one help me out by giving ideas about what I should do in this situation. I go goose hunting and see lots of birds there about two miles high and some are 10 feet off the ground but when they get about 50 yards they flare off.I do believe 9 dozen foots are enough decoys, but is there somin else I can try to getr these birds to finish?

Silverfoot,

Maybe draw back the number you put out, I like to watch the birds in the field, and match my decoys to them spread size, and pattern wise.

Get out and look at your blind, see what it looks like, look at your spread, is their anything that sticks out, doesn't look right? Is your face or hands exposed to the birds, remember their vision is magnified as compared to ours.

How is your calling, are you saying something they don't like when they get close? Trying to do a spit note to finish them off, but getting an allert note out instead?

Are you flagging? I usually put the flag down after they turn and commit my direction.

Good luck, and I hope this helps some.

Be cautious of your calling....see if they're looking for aggression or maybe you need to tone it down..watch their reaction. Local birds can be very cautious. Only flag inside of 100 yards on cloudy days...and givem that feedin' growl when they approach. With a good spread of flocked heads and a mudded camoed blind...it's hard to do it wrong! Sometimes the birds just don't like the location!

well I think im dealin with flight birds when I hunt, cause there talkin non stop and I can stop them on a dime when I call at them and they lock down forever but never committ and the birds that are down to earth as I call it wont even look at me,I dunno I m just confused on this.Hardest birds I ever hunted. Thanks for the ideas though.
