I'm going to be adding another call to my addiction collection and for hunting. Just a few questions if I could. Looking to fill the deep gander goose sound on my lanyard.
Showtime; does that come with the contest broken in guts or stock guts?
Can the Showtime get as low as the SMH?
Could someone post up a sound bit of a SMH and a Showtime tuned deep?

Unless your getting it used, you will get stock/unbroken in guts....IMO the showtime is deeper if tuned right due to the longer insert.

I would go with the showtime, it wont come with broken in guts as Foiles doesn't offer them. But when you get the guts broken in on that call, it is a phenomenal call.
I can post up a little soundfile I did when i was selling my showtime, I will be ordering a new showtime around christmas.

Very responsive, from up high to down low, great sounding spits, sorry the camera doesn't get all of the natural sounds it makes, it sounds a lot better in person.
The SMH may be more user friendly out of the box, yes it will get deep, and is another call that has great response. These two are similar calls, the showtime will just kick more volume out, and because its bored out, it takes a little extra to run its lows.
I don't have a video of a SMH, but there are soundfiles of both of these calls on the Foilesmigrators site.
go with the show time. just got home to check mine out that came in the mail when i was out of time. it blows my 2 shm's away. i wish i had got one alomg time ago. buy it and tune it low or have someone else do it , but i'd go with the show time.

The SMH is a sweet call and has proven itself over years of abuse in the field and pressure on the stage. It has a great range and its ability to be blown by almost any caller speaks incredibly well for it as a "mainstream" call. It can certainly get low and will reproduce almost any low end sound.
As discussed before in other threads every call maker has a call that is the "stock" call. It will be the call that a companies sound and style is based on. The other calls will be variations that allow for certain other sounds to be emphasized while maintaining range. I have no doubt that the Showtime is a low call. It is also in my opinion the rangiest, (if thats a word :? ) call that is offered in the FMI line up. It certainly can go nearly as high as the famed Cackler. The showtime as a call is very responsive with its shorter mouth piece and as pointed out carries a slightly longer insert. While the total length of the call is the same as the SMH the shorter mouth piece and longer insert allow this call to do every sound you could ask it to do and do them very responsive. I love both of my Showtimes and couldnt ask for anything more out of them.
However, if you are not extremely comfortable with the control required to achieve the low end notes that are so often sought after. In example the train, or hiccups it might be in your advantage to look at the HPH. The HPH to me is every bit as low ended as the showtime but requires much less air and simplifies the presentation. It carries the range to still hit the high mark sound and is still responsive in every way. To me the big difference between the Showtime and HPH is the volume and amount of air required to drive each. If you dont have the air or simply dont want the volume but still want the low end control sounds then perhaps the HPH is the call to go with.

I'd go with the Showtime. As I have been corrected, it is NOT merely a SMH with a longer insert. IMO, the Showtime takes less air to operate and if you have some experience with short reed calls, after a time of getting "broken in" it should produce the lows that you desire.
The most fun of breaking it in, is being in the field and using it to direct ack-ack fire against geese. I was somewhat reluctant to take the plunge and spend the money, however, I also have a Meat Grinder, and the Showtime operates easier than the Meat Grinder in my limited experience.
In any event, you will be pleased with choosing either one.

PS: Check out Foiles website, as there are soundfiles with every call on the site.

Get a Showtime. I haven't even picked up my SMH this season yet. My Showtime has been my go-to call so far this season and I'm sure it'll stay that way. I have broken in guts in it and it really does sound awesome.

Show Time is a nice call. I found that out the one day at Bass Pro cause it not only brings the birds in but other people  when I was blowing it came out of the wood work to watch me do it. I actually helped make up a guys mind that day to buy one too. It is a very responsive call with lots of volume up top if needed and gets growly as can be on the low end. HPH is probally my next favorite to this call. It is also a fast call, very responsive, and It can do killer moans, and growls on it. My better half is buying me a Flammed Hedge HPH for my B-Day cause she knows I want one bad and that I am kicking myself in the rear end ever since I traded my all acryllic HPH. Hope these pointers help. These are the 2 calls I would be going for anyways.
