I have read that some pro staffers use a vacuum to break in a new set of guts in a call.
How long do you leave it on the vacuum for?
Thanks

I have heard of it being done, but have actually never done it myself.....I have given a couple sets to my brother and let him wear em in.....sorry, I guess I was not of any help, maybe someone else out there can help you better.....

I've heard of it but don't know anything else about it. I've had my same set of guts in my call for about a year and a half now, and I dunno if I can tell the difference.

I've heard of that, and also using a air compressor with a blower fitting blowing into the call (low air pressure, obviously), all it does is speed up the breaking in period (replaces actually having a person calling into it for a while), so for the period of how long. I would say just imagine if you were actually calling, how much actual time on a call would you spend in a season or 2, and that is how long to use the vacuum. So realistically I'd guess with practicing (probably 15 min. a day at the most for a month or so, and then actual hunting time calling, again maybe 10-15 min. of actual blowing the call for a season). You add all that up and I'd guess at least 8 hours or so. to get it good and broke in. Hope this helps. I've never actually done it, usually just blow my head off. You can definitely tell when you've got a new tight set of guts vs. a nice broke in set. Real hollow sounding when tight and nice and mellow and dead sounding when broke in. Same deal with a new reed sometimes, needs a little break in time.

So it seems like 8 hours is how long?
Might wear out the vaccum LOL

Do you just put the vacuum on it and let it suck or do you turn it off and on? Maybe someone could go into a little more detail of the process?

it dosent take that long i usually do it for 10 min just to get it started so its alittle easier, but even 5 min makes a big diffrence.
