I finally got my new pasture pond dug. It took a lot longer than I thought because I had to get some guy from the county to come out and see if I needed a permit or not. I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but I talked to the excavating guy that dug it for me and he said he is all done. Hopefully I can borrow my neighbor's irrigation pipes to fill it up otherwise I am going to wait until next year and dig a sandpoint if it isn't too deep. I will post some pics of it once I get home. It is a pretty big pond, but its only about 2 feet deep because that is how far the black dirt went down and that is why the guy dug it for free. Hopefully it becomes a good sanctuary for the geese becuase I am not planning on hunting it, I just want a safe spot for the geese to stick around because I have all the land around it. I had 2 small ponds that I dug with our skidloader that geese were always in it in the spring and early summer until it dried up, but now its one huge pond. I might plant some wild rice in it too. Tell me what you guys think and if you have any pointers on what I should plant and the well situation. thanks
