Hello all fellow hunters. New here and I am looking for some help. I recently bought a Meat Grinder goose call and like a little kid decided I wanted to see what makes this thing tick.....that being said, I can't get it to sound right again :? I was hoping for a little advice.
I called a guy I know and he told me to make sure that the sound board and the collar is right and that the reed has the shaved side up. I have all that correct and the reed is a hairline away from the cutout on the soundboard. It will break but I feel that the sound is too low pitch and would like it a little higher. It took me about 2 hrs to get it to where it is at right now and I would like to do some hunting with it this weekend if possible.
Maybe I am just underexperienced with this call. I have a Pit Crew call (Pauls Calls) and I can get that to sound good with alittle practice. Just hoping for some help from all you that are experienced.
Thanks for all your help!

Try shortening up the amount of exposed reed, push the tone board back into the call just a hair and pull the wedge out a bit, so less of the reed is exposed, this should bring the pitch up somewhat higher. Still make sure that the reed just cleares the the trough on the tone board. Hope this helps you out. Thanks for choosing Foiles calls, and good luck this weekend.

Does the location of the soundboard have anything to do with the pitch or is it the location of the wedge?
Does a call wear out after a while, as far as the reed goes?

The slightest change in position of any parts of the guts (wedge, tone board, reed) will change the sound of your call. Reeds can wear out, but usually takes a while on a short reed, where as a flute you can go through a few reeds a season. The guts on the other hand you want to wear, when the reed starts to cut grooves in the board is when it really starts to sound good. Check your pm's for some additional help.

Thanks alot for all your help Jeff and Hoosierhunter!!! I really apreciate the customer service at Foiles...top notch!!! I messed around with the call for quite a while yesterday after talking to Jeff on the phone and I think I have it sounding pretty good. If this makes sense, I have to put alot of pressure on my upper lip with the call to make it sound not so deep. Is that normal? Seems like alot of air pressure to call...dang near run out of breath after so long, but I think I will try to adjust the reed alittle more to make it higher and easyer to blow.
I ordered the goose 2.0 and also fallen' skies 2 and 3. Hopefully this will help me out also. Just don't tell the wife...lol
Again AWSOME customer service from Foiles!!
Thanks!
Ryan

I just bought a Meatgrinder, awsome call!!!! If you can retune it yourself ( or have a friend help) you will save alot of money. I emailed Foiles today and they quoted $14 to have a call retuned.
