im looking at buying some FB duck decoys for my field spread. yet i was told by some of my hunting buddies that i should just use my floating duck decoys, since they work just as well. i was just curious about wut u guys think, on if i should use my floating decoys or go out and buy some full bodies.

We like to use full bodies to b/c they sit up higher off the great and can be seen better and its great to add them to the mix by using your floaters too. Thats just what we like to do

With the full bodies you'll get that extra motion as well where the floaters will just sit their.

i agree. fullbodies are the way to go.
but its hard to find good FB ducks. GHG ones, the paint tends to come off quick, and the Bigfoots look like crap in the field (believe me).
i dont know if FA makes mallards, but i think they should.
i mostly use G&H shells, and they work good, but i would like some fullbodies mixed in.
your choice, but i would go with shells since they are cheaper and stack better and store way WAY better

I'm partial to the GHG's just because i like the coloring a little more than the others. If you keep them in slotted bags they hold up just fine. I have'nt had any issues with paint (other than normal ware & tare).
Plus the body position looks a lot more realistic as opposed to the floaters while they are on dry land. There is a lot more decoy there that can be seen from a distance. Throw a few FB pintail in there too. They really stand out and make your spread a lot more visable.

I agree full bodys are great to have but last year we killed the $%#& out of mallards with floaters in a field so what ever you have the budget for, Look at the GHG full body shell decoys.

I am getting some Hardcore FB Ducks and I think they look great! Another good thing about the FB ducks is they are bigger than your average sized floating decoy which the birds can see a lot better plus the motion!

There is a company out there that makes stands for your floaters to be field decoys. If you wanted to go that route.
I like the looks of Hard Cores and the motion of the GHG.
As far as "X" brand looking like crap in the field.....it may look bad to YOUR eye, but the ducks don't seem to mind them, so I've been told and seen in videos

I throw my pops GHG full body mallards into just a regular decoy bag and they are fine.
Anyways, what I would tell you to do is use a spinner and full body goose decoys.
We destroyed ducks last year without having any duck decoys out, other then a spinner.
Ducks love geese, use the spinner to draw them over, and the call to finish them right in the killhole. :D
