We had a great first day! Scouted out several great fields for geese, all cut sweet corn fields, 1 had about 200-300 geese in it, the other had about 150-200 geese in it. Well we were alittle late, they already had a couple of groups hunting them for opener, so we decided to hunt some doves (got a great spot for doves). There were 5 of us, we shot our limit of doves (75), but the place we were hunting was in the flight path of several geese, so I thought I better take my calls with me (just a hunch). We ended up having 2 groups of geese fly over and called them down real close, we didn't have any dekes with us, but they were within 30-40 yards of us. We ended up with 5 bonus geese, 1 banded! Great fun! Called the geese from way in without any dekes, how cool is that!

goose season so far here hasnt been great, been fell 1 shy of a limit friday and 2 shy today, i scouted them but now the birds dont seem to be there, but ill tell ya what dove hunting has been good, hunted mathessian state park yesterday, limited in 2 hours, almost everyone out there limited in the 5 hours allowed to hunt out there, yesterday there were 1700 doves killed, which was 113 guys limit, today hunted a buddys acre sunflower field and killed a 6 man limit of 90 doves in an hour and a half, it was awesome

HH im about 15 miles west of Fort Wayne.
I did get out today and got my first honker of the year. He was a loaner. He came from behind us and soon as he saw the deeks and mojos 90ed right in front of me.
I also took my 2 sons, they were the chasers. We had a blast.
I just got my Meat Grinder yesterday, but really need to practice with it, I may need to get Jeff's video. Im so used to these calls i gotta blow so hard that i sounded like a sick cat.

Congrats Sam, If you need any advice or help with your call, just post up there's plenty of guys on here willing to help. Got any more geese scouted for Labor day? I'd like to be out, but need to spend the day with the family, Some brownie points for later in the season. . Good luck.

That's Duck Hunter Paul on left, me with the calls around my neck, DHP's brother in law Thad, and our friend Darrell.

Darrell's first band! We weren't sure who shot it, either DHP or Darrell, so we called odds or evens, and DHP lost the call, so Darrell won the band!

Oh well, you can't make jerky out of bands.
