Please see the attached announcement for upcoming open house meetings to
discuss the Pool 4/Big Lake Closure that is proposed for next fall
(2009). Pass along to others who have an interest in the Big Lake area.
This will probably be the last time to comment, so if you have an
opinion or ideas that you would like to share or suggest, plan on
attending.

Open Houses Slated to Discuss Next Year’s Hunting Changes in Pool 4
The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge invites the public to attend
informational open houses to preview maps and discuss changes in Pool 4 for the fall 2009
hunting season.
The changes were first proposed during the comprehensive conservation planning process for the
entire refuge completed in 2006.
The open houses will be held Thursday, September 25 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the AmericInn,
in Wabasha, MN and Saturday, September 27 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Nelson Community
Center in Nelson, WI.
Information on Pool 4 including waterfowl numbers, aquatic vegetation, maps and aerial photos
will be available for viewing and refuge staff will be on-hand to answer questions. No formal
presentations will be made.
Following, the open houses, all information will be made available online at
www.fws.gov/midwest/UpperMississippiRiver.
Interested parties who are unable to attend the open houses may request the information by
visiting the Winona District Office at 51 East 4 th Street, Room 203, in Winona, MN or by calling
507-454-7351 after the open houses.

Dang MN an WI are always trying to F&#@ up everything arent they. I fish bass tournaments and it seems like they are always coming up with some BS to try and curb that, whats next no waterfowlin....

i hear wisconsin and minnesota are building a zoo together.........................there gonna put a 20' high fence around iowa :D

Theres 11 other state parks closing too. Depue was one of the first hunt clubs inturduced in IL. And thats on the hit list. OBAMA is our senater hes doin real good keepin jobs in IL.

Boy thats a good one... Since the states are so far apart im sure theres a big difference in "real state." The only difference is your officials obviously have to regulate everything to keep you from screwing something up.

I always seem to hear at one time during the season that the DNR is thinking about disallowing the use of Motorized decoys (mojo style). I honestly doubt it will happen but it would actually force some people to learn a thing or two about decoy patterns and calling.

I don't think that will ever happen in any state, unless the sportsmen themselves are a big enough voice against them that they can push to have them banned.
