Myself and two buddies Holt and Brandon went out for the Wiscony Duck opener and it was a blast. Had birds buzzing us before that dreaded 9:00 shoot time! As we counted down the mins there was a major lull in the action. Then at about 9:30 I decided to go see if I could jump a little cove were we seen some ducks land earlier. As I approached the destination I spyed a duck about 80 yards out. He then got up and started to fly by and then out of nowhere he banked and came right to me and I folded him up a immature drake woody. Then on the way back to the blinds Brandon and I became stranded in the middle of the water and a small flock of woodies came right in and we knocked two of them down. The flock then met up with another flock and came back in!!! We knocked down like three birds that time. Then when all seemed calm another flock came by and we knocked down three more! The lone bird that was left in that previous shoot came back and we folded that one to. All in all we shot nine wood ducks but were unable to find two of them so ended up with seven and all this happened in a seven minute span! Awesome morning!

P.S. I got to try out my new Drake waders and they are freakin AWESOME!

nice job guys i cant wait to slaughter the ducks where me and a couple of buddys are hunting saturday morning i am so pumped up

Nice shoot! I take it you hunted the Northern Zone of Wisconsin. I can't wait for the Southern Zone to open this Saturday! There is a boat load of woodies and teal, was out scouting this weekend.


9AM shoot time! That F'n sucks! I'm usually rolling up the decoys at 9.

Opening day in Wisconsin is 9 AM for ducks. The opener for Geese is normal time, but when ducks open you have to wait until 9 AM to shoot geese too. It's quite stupid, at least they moved it earlier though. Prior to last season the opener was NOON! :shock:

In Wis you can shoot three this year kinda nice! Thats all thats around this time a year few teal but woodies dominate.

LUCKY!!!

No ****? That's awesome. This is Wisconsin's first year with a 3 woodie limit, but they nixed Canvasbacks altogether which sucks.

Yeah we had woodies this weekend and could have shot as many as we dang near wanted but our limit is 2 per person and hunters choice of 5 ducks of which only 1 can be a canny, pinny or hen of those species or mallard hen....sometimes hard to tell 1/2 hour b4 sunrise.
