I'm on the verge of buying a DMM. What's the difference between the two in terms of sound?

I dont own on yet, but I have blown one at Sportsmans and Scheels. In my opinion the Double Reed sounds alot better. The Single still sounds awsome but I couldnt control the air enough to tone it down. The Double is extreamly ducky.

Hey IowaMigr8tor, In my opinion that double is "Strait Wicked" The sounds aren't much different depending on tuning. Your decision should be based more on calling ability. We normaly recomend a double for somebody who A. isn't a very experienced caller, or B. dosen't want to spend alot of time practicing. With all FMI. duck calls you can start with a double and if you want to change to a single, remove the top reed and install a thicker wedge. Johnny McDonnell

I'm not a very experienced caller, so I think I'll go with the double.
"Extremely ducky". I like the sound of that. Thanks.

I consider myself a fairly experienced caller and I still love the double. It's what I have blown in 2-man ducks all year, and it's just awesome. Gives a great great sound. Can't go wrong.

i like double reeds alot but i find it easier to do things on a single reed than a double reed. for example i can do a cajun squeal on a single better than a double.

I would recommend the double DMM as well, it is strait up duck, no if's, and's or but's about it, and like grinder said, you can always convert it to a single reed in about 20 seconds.
