I was wondering if anyone could tell me the differences between these two calls. I recently just purchased the Showtime and tuned it exactly the same way as my SMH and i can't seem to get it to sound like a goose. I was wondering what am i doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

The Showtime was designed as a Comp-call. But, not just for comps.
It has a larger bore to be louder, and if I'm not mistaken you should be able to tune it just like your SMH, but may require a little more air.
I do not own one, but have blown one and was able to blow it the same way as my SMH. If I remember correctly I needed more air.
I'm sure there are others that will be able to better answer your question! Also, give the shop a call and ask "Big Sean" or one of the other guys there.

Thats exactly it. The showtime is LOUD. The increased bore size allows air to escape faster that a normal bore on the SMH. Tuning should be the same. The call is out of control awsome, it just takes some getting used to in order to perform well with the call. It took me a couple of days to get up the air pressure/lung capacity to make this call sing like my SMH. Definatly a good buy.

The showtime does take a lot more air than the SMH. I couldn't tune mine just like my SMH. NJHonker told me to expose a little more reed on the showtime and his advice worked. The showtime takes a little longer to break in as well. Keep trying.

What has been said is true in my experience with the ST. My ST has a reed that I shaved a bit more than I would for an SMH or HPH, etc. In order to get that deep, grovelly, gander sound, like NJHONKER I exposed a little more reed and VIOLA....IT SOUNDS AWESOME!!!
The mechanics are basically the same...just takes MORE air and a little more backpressure.

Boy, usually when they come from the shop Biggie has those things contest ready and sounding great. Granted they are tuned it bit lighter for the customer, but when I was watching/listening to him tune those things at Gamefair they were top notch.
What kind of sound are you looking to achieve with your Showtime in relation to the SMH --> higher pitched, lower pitched????
Like everyone else has said, the Showtime takes just a bit more air to operate, but for the most part, blows quite the same way.....in my opinion no back pressure is required, I guess it just depends how you are blowing. With the Showtime, or any of Jeff's calls for that matter, I can take and blow them open handed (no back pressure) and operate that call....that there is the beauty of his calls. Your on hands are there to refine the sound and give it different tonal qualities along with your voice inflection.
To answer you question about the differences, the Showtime's mouthpiece is shorter, making it more responsive, the bored out contest insert makes it louder because of the increased air able to flow through, and the length of the insert gives it a bit more mellow/hollow sound as well. Both are awesome calls, both are on my field lanyard. Geez, I hope this helped in some way, anymore questions, just keep askin, we'll try and get things squared away!!!

Well i traded my SMH for this Showtime but now i am regreting it. I just wanted to try something new i guess. I am more of a hunter then a contest caller so this may have been the wrong choice. I also had another person look at the tunning and i just can't seem to get it. It does require a lot of air and that might be my problem but is this call to loud for hunting situations? Also, how long did it take for you guys to figure this call out?

Where in MN are you? I am in the metro area, if you are interested and it's not to far for either of us, we can get together and get this Showtime issue figured out!!! 8) Let me know if you are interested! Feel free to give me a call also.......651-983-8031
For this call, you don't need to be a contest caller to blow it. This was the main design idea for the Showtime. It is still a great call for all practical purposes!!!!!!
Let me know!

As of right now, I work Saturday night. 7pm-7am, as well as Friday night. I don't think I have anything going on for Sunday.
Shoot me a PM or give me a call, and we can figure out a meeting place.

Your PM didn't go through, I don't know what happened, sometimes there are issues with them going through.
