Is this call comparable to the tone ranges of a SMH? Would you consider this more of a meat call or a competition call. Also, is this call as easy to operate as the SMH. I am scrambling to find a good meat call before the regular season starts.

The Market Hunter is a great call!!! Very versatile and super quick!!! As for ease of use...compared to the SMH, it requires more backpressure than the SMH, but has the same range of tones and sounds.

As for a meat call....any call in the Foiles line, maybe minus the ShowTime, is a meat call. My go to calls in the field go like this....HPH, MH, SMH, and the MG. So far this year, the HPH has laid to rest 92 birds in four hunts!!!

Explain what you mean by a "meat" call and maybe we can guide you a little better than the blammering I just went through above

I guess i am looking for a really goosy call that won't blow the birds out to the next county. Also, i just want something thats easy to use that can finese the birds a little bit. I hunt pretty pressured areas and need to work the birds a bit but still sound realistic. In turn, i am still pretty new to short reeds and i need something easy to use.

In relation to the SMH, the MH is higher in tone/pitch. The mouth piece is shorter and the bore size is smaller, making the call quicker and higher pitched. I feel the MH is higher pitched than the SMH, and just a bit more so than the HPH. It is a great meat call, high pitched, good goose, easy to blow, fast, and pretty loud if you want it to be as well.

In my opinion, ALL of Jeff's calls are GREAT meat calls, every one of them has great goose and produce the best goose sounds that come out of a call and are very easy to blow. It comes down to what you are looking for in a goose call and which one(s) fit you best. If you have any more questions, just keep on posting!!! Hope this helps

Mark and Nick have taken the words right out of my mouth....

only thing I can say is when I'm hunting..I ALWAYS have a MH on my lanyard....GREAT CALL....I didn't really blow one during the off season but as soon as SEPT 1 hit...I pulled one out of "retirement" and haven't put it down yet....I LOVE them....

Thanks for all the input, its nice hearing from people that really know there stuff. I thought i heard somewhere that the call had more lower end but i must have heard wrong. For my situation i think a little quieter deeper call would be better.

I can get a good low end out of the MH....not so much as maybe my HPH, but the low end work on the MH is good!!! Don't let a call that is tuned high fool ya...with the right air presentation, you can get low on the same call!

Thats a great point their about being able to get low on a higher tuned call, you would be surprised to hear how low you can get with an smc, when you want to. I like the MH a lot, it does take a bit more back pressure, and may be a great choice in that reguard if you are used to using flute calls.
