I have about 150 teal sitting on a irrigation pond with about 75 mallards, problem is they're roosting there. I know what the mallards will do if I go in there in the morning but will the teal come back?

i hunted a roost site that was flooded timber before for mallards and wood ducks...what i did was wait til after shooting light and let the birds fly out on their own. then set my decoys and be very picky on my shot selection. i let birds fly i might have been able to kill doing that but it also let me hunt that area several times and not chase the birds out.

Problem is, I know the mallards will leave. But I have not seen these teal leave, I have went back a different times on numerous days and they never leave. I seen them get up once circle and fly back in.

well give it a try what corybdesign says...its better then waiting till they decide to head south.

your going to run the risk of chasing some birds out no matter what....letting it rest a couple days between hunts will help too...the nice part is if the teal come back you dont need to haul decoys 8)
