I've had some bad luck this summer with my lab cutting his paws where I train him.

In order to stop the bleeding I've been doing this "Old Wive's Tale" method of putting flour on the cut. Aside from finding a new training site, is there any other cut-management tips any of you can offer me?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

EMT gel seems to work pretty good, you can get it from cabelas. I believe it has epinephrine wich causes blood vessels to constrict, tamponading the bleed.

when my dog had a nasty wound on the bottom of his paw i cleaned it really good and covered the wound with crazy glue. it was healed in a matter of days and he didnt even limp after i applied the glue.

EMT gel is very good and effective....glue will work in a pinch but I would advise against it....there are compounds in the glue that could cause problems.....

we've even used duct tape with success in some instances.....

EMT gel is a must with you out in the blind, put a tube in your bag and keep it with you at all times, I also have a tube of liquid skin, it's better than just regular crazy glue. EMT gel for minor cuts and scrapes, for a real bleeder put some of the liquid skin on it to stop the bleeding. They sell 1st aid kits for dogs at Gander Mtn, it has all these things and some other stuff like bandages, etc. in it.
