Congrats on the blue goose. Word of advice on getting the bird mounted, I would save your money, it's a juve is most likely full of pin feathers, which means that the feathers are not fully out of the quills yet and when mounting the bird the feathers will not puff out and will lay flat making it look life less and pin feathers will fall out of the mount once the mount drys. Any good taxidermist will tell you the same thing and if they don't there just taking your money and don't care what the mount looks like. Just trying to save you some heart ache.

Like dahmer said you might want to save your money and wait to see if you can get an adult bird.

rare blue goose your kidding. they are here in mo by the hundreds of thousands. do you guys not get very many snow geese? we had like 1.8 million just at squall creek last year. and more through out the state. probbaly 30% blues to snows. they are just a color phaze of the snow goose.

Very true....Come up towards Muskegon and hunt the Waste Water Unit, there have been 2 Blues brought in to the checkstation so far this year.

Actually they are a color morph, much like color differences in labradors. They do not molt and change back and forth.

Congrats on the kill!

I thought snows and blues were everywhere. guess not. They certainly love the central flyway then!!

I don't think you understand how much of rarity this is for lower michigan. We never see these. I would mount it for sure. Everything is different on the west side of the mississippi.

I understand the rarity of this bird, it's a true trophy. What I don't understand is why you would spend a couple hundred dollars on getting a bird mounted and have the bird look like crap because it is a juve. Most good taxidermist won't even mount that bird because that they don't want to get a bad name for doing a bad mount.

Congrats on the kill!morph would be the correct term from websters sorry. i never said that they change the colors.
on a better note after some googleing i found out that most of the blue geese stay in the mid conntinent.(spelling sorry) that would explain why some of you dont see them. i learned something today.

All I know juvenile or not color is color on a bird. I have the michigan state champion taxidermist for waterfowl do mine and even when I blow **** up he always makes it look good so difference in opinion that's fine.

and no, we RARELY see snows in Michiganif you hate to me then why did ya? i live by it, i know what its called. you will find out as the decades go by you tend to lose stuff that you dont use.(spelling) i was also in a hurry and didnt spell check it, sorry for the inconvenience.
you are not missing much on not getting a bunch of snows they are a pain in the but and hard to decoy when they bunch up like that. you have to have a ton of decoys and alot of ground to hunt.
i seen some you tube videos on all of the geese last year at squaw creek.
