Whats everyone strategy for late season? What do you like to hunt? What kind of setups. Our late season here starts the 16th, we have been getting a lot of rain latley and have no snow out the ground as of right now. I live a few miles from Presque Isle bay on lake erie, and its all open, so will probably be shooting some ducks, duck closes the 10th here.

5 birds a day. Wow! I wish they would do that here in Iowa. The limit here is 2 a piece and for the early September season it is 3. It kinda sux only being able to shoot 2 per day. I'm not saying I'm an awesome shot, but I have to quit after the first bunch of birds alot of the time. And I would hate to jsut shoot one to lengthen the hunt. Then you know what would happen, no more would come in!! Thats just how it works. Late season tips: Well for one thing, I would use the best quality nad most quantity of decoys you can get ur hands on. Large quatitys of good looking decoys are absolutely necessary to bring birds into your spread that have been ripped at all season. We have been trying to run mostly full bodies with some shells mixed in. I like the standard U shaped pattern for all times of the season. I like to set shell decoys in the curving part of the U (right in front of the blinds) to simulate sleeping birds ( turn feeder heads onto decoys backs). If birds are sliding off, you gotta change ur spread up some. Just tweak it every time birds dont finish.

It was two birds a day here, but that just ended. It opens up to 5 the 16th. The early season you can shoot 8 a day. Those are the days that you can slaughter them. Get 6 guys out there, and 8 birds a piece can make a nice meal.
