i have both and honestly you cant tell a huge difference or at least i cant. the grinder wont be as sharp soundin as one of the acrylics but will still kill geese. to me it almost has a more mellow tone to it due to the difference in materials. you deffinately wont be dissapointed with this call. this year so far i have used both my grinder and smh about equal. one time ill grab the grinder another the smh. also you may want to check out the soundfiles on the website itself and youll be able to hear not a huge difference.

Remember most DVD can be played in a CD player and listened to.

Hand placement is a good thing to learn right off the bat. Heres what I do: Take you dominant hand (Leftys= Left Rightys=right) place the call in the pocket between your thumb and index finger. Wrap the rest of your fingers around but dont close the call off, you should see the hole in the indsert if you face the insert towards you. Then take your other hand and place it on top of that on the opposite side of the call again taking care not to close the call off, this creates your "sound chamber". Once you have this created altering a finger or two or even your whole hand that covers the opposite side will change the tone of the call. You can meter how much you close it off or open it up. The tighter you close them the lower the call will get and vice-versa. BUT YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THERE IS A CLEAR PATH FROM THE END OF YOUR HANDS TO THE HOLE IN THE INSERT. Your hands just create a chamber for the sound to resignate in, not for back pressure like in a flute call. Hope this helps.
