BRUTAL. Me and my Old Man spent the entire day scouting today. Found 4 fields holding 1000+ birds and all 4 said no. I asked one of them about putting up a couple scarecrows in the field to push the birds out, her response was, "Why? So you can kill them somewhere else? I will NOT let you do that!" As soon as she said that I just got back in the car and left.

Through out the year get every free CD you can. Hang them from the buried cable flags. put in field at night and they will not land there.

I've got the same situation as you. There's a farm that has a small cow pond that's always littered with mallards and geese. We stopped to ask about hunting the pasture a few times, and the guy always tell us that if it was up to him, we could shoot 'em all, but his wife says no because she likes to watch them. It's such garbage. When I get a response like that, I like to say "tell her there will be more here in a few weeks," but it's never well received. Fortunately, we got permission to hunt every surrounding farm, so screw that lady! My taxidermist hunts with the farmers son and he said that the lady won't even let them hunt it, so every chance they get(when she's at horse shows or something) they hammer 'em.

Since the end of the early season I haven't gotten permission on a single patch of land. Most of them say no because, "They've had trouble with hunters in the past." When I ask why they always say trespassers. I would like to think that it's only a small group that's ruining it for the rest of us, but I'm not so sure.

Just buy a bag of feed and spread it all around the house, on the lawn in the driveway. Those geese will sh!t all over that yard, the wife will change her mind once she tracks some of nature in her house, car etc.

Sometimes when I have been turned down from places that hold lots of birds sometimes we do this. Go back in a couple days and ask if you can put a coouple big orange tarps in his field. Tell him it is only to scare the geese so they don't land there and they land across the road or next field over were you are hunting. We have done this before and it works really well. Have one corner only flapping in the wind too and it will keep them off there. Farmers around here usually say shoot every last one of them but now and again we get the odd one that will say no. Hope this helps. :D Biggest thing is be polite and thank them for thier time and sometimes they will change thier mind too. :D

Also helps if you have a crony that can sell ice to an eskimo. We seem to have a serious problem, he keeps getting fields to hunt, but we can't hunt em all! (sarcastic note inserted) He got a guy he just met to let him use his brand new $450,000 Winnebago to stay in during a meat smoking competition, using the $8,00 dollar smoker that a guy gave em for free. Can you say golden tongue?

This is the same kind of stuff that happens where i live... you see a big ol tom out in the field and your own neighbor that you let crop your land wont let you go after it... just the way that people are around here i guess...

I wouldn't wanna hunt it anyway. If you don't shoot them there they'll stay. They gotta eat, shoot them then. Gotta have a refuge for them or you'd have no local birds. three ponds like that around here.
