When out in the fields, we often shoot more ducks than geese. Our spread consists of both duck decoys and goose decoys, and one Roto Duck. We turn it off when a flock of geese approaches.

While I can't argue with the results for ducks, I do believe that it does not help at all for geese, and actually hurts us (even when it's off). I've argued to take it down, but no one shares my opinions.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, they are definitely detrimental when trying to decoy geese. That's why we usually take em down once the geese start flying.

You guys take em down?

Really?

Ive never heard of that, Ive heard of turning em off (which I do), but never takin em down.

I always make sure the white part of the wing is down when it finally stops spinning.

when i see a flock of geese coming towards my decoy spread i always run out to shut my mojos off and take them down and bring em back with me to hide em in my ground blind. i have had no problems with doing that.

Yeah, never buy one of those. I'm pretty sure they came out with those before people realized geese don't like them. Pure money grab.
