I am planning on buying one, trying to decide , if I should get it for my 10 gauge or my 12 gauge. the 12 is a Benelli Nova the 10 a Browning BPS. Which one would you put the PM in?

I would start with your Nova 12 ga. because it is your, no doubt, most versatile hunting shotgun. I'm told the "Short Range, Over Decoys" is the one to get for waterfowling. They also now make it in black. About $90. Once you get it I would do a pattern check on paper, then decide whether or not it's do-able for your 10 ga.

you can buy a briley light mod. chock tube for about 40 bucks cheaper than the patternmasters. and they work just as good. just got one for my browning BPS 12 gauage for the late goose season and it is a goose slayen machine. i have a buddy who likes his patternmaster and one who doesnt, so its all your own oppinion. Also i cant wait to get a browning BPS 10 guage.

Smoke, why didn't I think of that, I will probably do that. Imagine the reach I will have with the Big 10 throwin BB's through a PM. The 3.5" 12 wont be to far behind I don't imagine.

I bought one for my sbe benelli at the start of the season. I patterned it with all types of loads, most of them 3.5 because i got the extened version. I was shooting a briely LM and notices much denser patterns even with #4 kent fasteel through the PM. my tests were done at 35 to 40 yards. I have cut way down on cripples, and when one does need another shot on the water its dead after one shot. I kinda get to be clean up crew. So what i was trying to say is BUY ONE cause ya cant go wrong with the PM.

Another reason behind my thought of gettin it for both guns is since it holds a tighter pattern if u only do it on one gun u may not lead like u should and might cause some cripples but with it in both it would be equal.
Haha that and it would be cool to have it in both guns :D

I thought about putting "an over decoys" tube in the Nova and using it for closer shots, and extended in the Browning 10 to reach out and rouch som geese, then I will call it my AT&T gun

kingkilla my PM wasnt very much bout $40 i got it at cabelas in the bargen cave :D
I have a Patternmaster that I bought for my M2. I hate the patterns were horrible with a huge donut hole in the middle.

I heard rhenew criochokes like the one in you M2 produced great patterns themselves. But a lot of people swear by them in their SBE II's
Did you get the extended or the Standard, the extended is really designed for 3.5" guns, you would probably have better luck with the standard tube.

Anyone tried a PM with a Beretta Extrema 2?

I had one in my Extrema and you need to watch out. PM didn't get the measurments right on the Extrema and they expand in the barrel. I went through two PM in a matter of three weeks. Finaly called PM and they said they need to remeasure then. My tubes had to be tugged on to remove them. Luckly no damage to the barrel. I will look into getting another one next year.

Hey Chris C. I shoot a briley light mod. and never took it out of my barrel all season (SBE). Except to clean it. I havent patterned it but I know it doesnt shoot near as tight as a PM. My buddy bought a PM before the season and just threw it on his Gold before season. He couldnt hit the ground if he fell on it for at least a month or two during duck season. But he was hell on the occasional bird that I crippled. He is starting to hit stuff now. I think I'm gonna buy a PM, mostly for snow geese. I wanna get a magazine extension too.

That's potentially scarey. So then is PM re-doing the design for all future Extrema PM tubes??

Mlgorecki, just buy a SBE and you wont even have to worry about that crap. Just kidding. I talked to Iowamigr8tor a few days ago and he thinks they'll have new PM's for Extremas fairly soon. I think I'm gonna get a PM for those tall sky carp. They dont take much of a hit to bring down, but you still gotta have a halfway descent pattern at long range.

Speaking of ranges and appropriate choke diameters, I just got off of the PM website and their (PM) techs recommend the "Short Range/Over Decoys" model for ducks & geese from close ranges out to 50+yds. Interesting.

Yeah real scary on a BRAND NEW GUN! PM would of made it right but I would call them first to make sure there havent been problems with them in the Extrema 2.

yeah i could hit the ground but n e thing in the air with that PM was continuing to fly usually haha.....i got it now thought i started getting the hang of it middle of duck (that day we killed the 3 mallards+the BWT was the turning point)and then goose I surely had the hang of it killing my limit (or atleast tag teaming with people) almost every outing....the 2 with 1 shot especially (luck was a factor too)....it didnt really help that i didnt get a whole lot of shooting practice before season with baseball and what not but i still should have shot better than I did...its all good now though...

Yeah iawaterflowler, I think that you've gotten used to the PM now. You probably shoulda shot some clays with it before going out duck hunting. I bet if you put a modified or and improved cylinder in now, you would pound ducks and geese from mid-range and in closer!! I'm buying Jordan's PM tonight for $60. Im gonna see if Scheels has extension tubes for my SBE or maybe they can order them cause I have $150 in gift cards to there. Their steel might be red tagged now too cause waterfowling's over except for snows. They did it last year.

For those with the benelli nova try Kicks high flyer full. it gets the job done for 60 bucks and over christmas vacation i had a streak going where every shot i took i put a duck down. i shot it in at about 30 yards and found it shoots 4's the best. BB's and everything else shot patchy.
