I think the SS is more clear sound, not so much louder, easier to ring than SMM, plus if you have saniprene wedge in your SMM, you should change that out to a cork wedge. Good luck!

SS is clearer and louder...but the SMM has won contests w/ good sucess in the past.

David you sound good on the call you were using, but i very seldom get in a duck contest and if i do it's usually a meat contest with a timber rattler.. But i would have to go with these guys advice, they are much more on the duck call than i am..

I used to use an Echo Open Water,then a Echo Boss.Now, the Strait Street is the one I use now.
