It seems when looking at the posts on these forums, that most everyone hunts geese from fields out of pits and layout blinds. I have always prefered to hunt from boat blinds on the water myself, not that I don't hit the fields from time to time. Does anyone else hunt out of Boat blinds?
Just curious.

not out of a boat, but I hunt them on the water! Have a 12 acre watershed with pit blinds around it that we take geese and ducks off.

We will also take our layouts and wade out to a sandbar in the middle og the river. Place some full bodies on the sandbar and some floaters in the eddie...

Yup I hunt geese on water outta my boat at Saylorville in central Iowa. Killed about ten out there this year including two banded birds. Lake's frozen solid now though and the season's closed. There is a late season goose starting the 24th here in Iowa but I dont see the lake freezin out until spring. Its gotta be real thick by now.

i do most of my goose hunting in fields but i also hunt over the water.last weekend we had to break skim ice on the river, but the next day it was frozen tight. hopefully it will not stay frozen long.

yeah max4 i hunt geese on water from my buddy's boat blind and from my blind on the illinois river, up in marseilles, weve been doing really good on geese in marseilles, from both blind and boat, i think we got 16 so far from water and i got 8 from the fields so far, i like hunting geese on the water though better, but the field is also fun from time to time

been killin them pretty regulary on the water(rock river) out of the boat, but it has almost froze shut here on the state line, where there is open water there are alot of geese they dont come out to feed untill 10am or so. lets a guy sleep in if he's huntin fields. gonna try wadin in on some icey birds this morring after they leave.

Here in Delaware we do most of our goose hunting on the big tidal marses. We usally catch them on there way back out to the river front, coming from the feilds.Hunting them in the feild is to easy,if you really want to be proud of yourself callem in on the water.

YA i know Al Dager. HE actually tought me a thing or two on my goose call. My father actally use to hunt right next to him about 10 years ago on the Black Bird creek. We still hunt on that ditch but we are almost out by the river.

chris c. how do you say that it is too easy to hunt geese in the fields??? apparently you have never hunted late season geese in kansas. these birds have got everything down pack by the time they get here. you have to have everything exactly perfect or you wont shoot anything. but around here anyway i belive that it is easier to hunt them on the water. that is my belief.

I was just saying in this area alot of people dont hunt them in the feild, so when they do see a spread they will most likely drop on in if decoys, callen etc is right. But im in a feild where they feed in the late season so im where the geese want to be. I try to shoot a bird or to and get out there to not educate them. sorry that i did not clarify myself.

the only thing that i dont like about hunting from a boat blind is that you stuck out pretty good. unless you are hunting in millet about 5ft tall

That is not always true, It all depwnds on the type of water you hunt and the way you build your blind, and camo it. We sometimes use our big water layout boat (homemade) and it will only hold one hunter, and is not motorized, so we bring a "chase boat" so we don't have to pull the blind out a lot. Doing this we get to take a look at our blind and spread, and you wouldn't believe how well it blends in, I wish I had some photo's to show you.
