Your problem is not reletad to any thing but a mistake. There were a batch of 391's that got a 390 feeder carrier by accident. Call Beretta and they will either send you a new one that you will have to install yourself or send it in. If your in a hurry and want it back asap send it to rich at
www.colegun.net/ for about 100 bucks he will replace it and polish the trigger parts.

It will take about 2 mins to replace with a small punch needed.

6 Years old would put it in the first generation. Does the carrier have a small bend on the end of it going towards the chamber or is it striaght???

If you feel it is was cold or locking get a spray can of BreakFree CLP spray on and leave wet. Don't get the squeeze bottle since you want it all over.

Check your PM I sent pictures and a wonderful read on how to work on the 391.

They are the work horse of shotguns hands down.
