Took my 15 year old cousin and 5 year old daughter out yesterday for an afternoon hunt at a new spot. We kicked up a few woodies going in, so we put out a few decoys and got setup. About 30 minutes later here come 4 woodies around the corner, they tried landing down and out of range from us so I hit the call and picked them back up. Seconds later 1 dead woodie. 15 minutes later a single woodie came around the corner, and 2 seconds later the 15 year old drops 2nd woodie. Just seeing him shooting these ducks was almost better than hunting myself(Almost!). I was reaching for my gun and I didn't ever have one with me! He coudn't stop bragging about his ducks he shot. He is already wanting to get them mounted on his wall. My daughter had fun too. She got all muddy, fell down a few times and made me carry her through the woods. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat!! Can't wait until this weekend. :D

Andy, sounds awesome! Was that the kid that was with you down at BPS? Tell him I said congratulations! Those things aren't easy to hit! That would be great if he could get one mounted! Let us know how you do for the opener, I think Duck Hunter Paul and I are going down to the Bruceville area to shoot some (hopefully). Good luck!

Yes, that was the same one. I treat him more like my son than a cousin. I have been taking him with me for several years, only as decoy hauler. :lol: Last year was his first time with a gun. He only shot two all year, which were his first ducks ever. I'm hoping this new spot I just came across is going to be a honey hole and he wil be able to take more ducks. So far it is looking real good. Hopefully, I will have pics from this upcoming weekend. I guess we are going to try and build some type of blind for the new spot. I doubt it will be ready for this weekend though. Good luck this weekend.
