I bought one of these new that was easy to blow with no problems and very little air required. Same on any other Foiles duck calls. My hunting partner had to have it so I gave it to him. I just aquired another one in a trade that was not right. I just figured the guy i got it from messed with it. So I send it back to be re-tuned and have new reed put in it. Well I have to say i get it back and it is horriable. It takes so much air to use it that feed chuckling is a joke and to get it to quack is way more work to do than any other foiles call I have ever used. You figure you send it back to who made it and it would come back all good. NOT THE CASE. Is there anything I can do? or does anyone want this and will go buy one that will work. Not to mention I get the call back a week before season. So disappointed. :x

It is a straight meat mallard.

Evil...
The way a call is tuned has everything to do with how it blows. No sense in buying a different call when the only problem is the length of the inexpensive reed. Everyone blows a call a little different, some use very little air and some a ton. If I hand Jeff or many other guys my calls they will blow the reeds over and lock them up because I tune mine fairly light. If I blow their calls I have to work my ass off to make them work. It's not that the call is any different, just the tuning.
When you returned the call did you give them instruction on how you wanted it tuned? If not they will just tune it middle of the road and that may not suit your calling style.
You have a couple options
Send it back in saying you want it tuned light/lighter
Call the shop and order some reed and tune it yourself (much better because you can get exactly the tune you need)
Find a pro-staffer or a contest caller in your area and ask them to tune the call.
It's all personal prefrence, nothing wrong with the call. They can be changed to fit anyones calling style with a small amount of time and the willingness to learn how to work on them. These calls are your tools in the field, everyone should know how to maintain and keep them working their best.

No I didnt tell them because every other call that I have ever heard from them is set to light as you put it. To be honest I have never picked up a call no matter who makes them that took that much air pressure. Who ever tuned it must have a strange amount of air. I was just disappointed with what it was like when I got it back. I guess I will check out my freinds calls to see where theirs are set becasue as it sits now its a high end useless paper weight.

Call the shop and ask for Lisa...I will call her right now and get some reeds cut for you. She can mail them out and you will have a few different ones to choose from or can trim them a little to suit your style.
Lisa will have you speak to Drew who is there tuning calls today, they will cut you some reeds.
Fair enough?

I wrote Jenifer a mail but still havent heard back from her yet. I still might have an expensive paper weight depending on her response but I do thank you for the input and help.

Never giv your call away. I have before and now I tell people to call the shop and get one like I do. You spend time with your hunt calls, hunting in diferent weather conditions you & your call become one tool that know each other and do what the other knows it can do. When you cut the reeds yourself and tune it, you will fined your sweet spot that you remember killing ducks to . :)

Evil hunter, I would recommend putting a double reed set into your SMM. I just put one in mine and it sounds great, really ducky. ALot like my TR but its alot louder. Still has alot of volume to it. Just my opinion

Killer Miller. It had a set put in them by the shop. And still wasnt right. I am STILL waithing to hear back from someone. When I talked to her at the shop I was told she had to talk to Jeff himself to see what he wanted done but he is traveling back from Canada. I have pretty much given up on any thought of using it for opening weekend.
