I love the way mine sounds. But, the biggest problem I'm having with it, is it is sticking out in the field. It was near or just into the 50's today, and no matter what I did, the moisture from blowing it, made it stick. I had to take the insert out and blow out in between the reeds and the reed and tone channel. Other than that, I have no regrets.
Anyone know any tricks to stop this from happening?

Listen here fellas, there ain't no call on the market today that ain't gonna stick if you put enough spit into it. The guys that were on here sayin their callin ain't stickin, then they must not salivate as others, but believe me, I have blown them all, and you AIN'T gonna find that don't stick when enough spit is put into the call......and hoosierdaddy, congrats on the new pro-staff gig, you be sure to let me know the first time your calls squeal or stick when you got a bunch of birds working......they ain't stick proof, like I said, I've blown em all!!
Sticking calls is part of the game if you spit a lot, I do, so I gotta take measures to make sure they don't do it. You just gotta run a dollar through it or blow through the exhaust end, or blow on the reeds.....I do it a lot, even if it don't need to be done, I just don't want a big squeal when the birds are on their way!!!

I went out this morning, it was in the low 30's. It seemed like everytime I picked up my DMM it was stuck, most of the time it was when ducks were within 100 yds. This was by far the coldest day I have hunted with the new call. I have the single reed, and i was getting pretty frustrated. I tried to keep it warm but it seemed like I couldnt do anything to keep it from sticking.Anybody have any suggestions.

Froze and stuck, bout the same thing, its gonna happen fellas......its been damn cold up here as well, and I try and keep my calls inside my coat or bibs, but as long as you are putting spit in the call, its gonna freeze and or stick. These calls ain't stick proof......I've heard guys say certain calls don't stick, heck even the new DMM.....if you think they don't stick, just let me at em, I blow more spit into a call than I don't even no what. And to try and slim the chances of it sticking/freezing, I try and keep my calls as spit free as possible after blowing at a bunch of ducks by blwoing through the exhaust end, blow on the reeds, or some guys carry a buck with them to take care of it........some guys sand the insert surface a bit, and thats fine, but don't go takin too much off these tone boards, you are gonna end up with a call that didn't sound like it did before!!!!

My DMM is a single reed also. It hasn't been out in real cold situations yet, but the only time I've had it stick was from blowing to hard on it. My call is tuned pretty light for a single reed and just can't take heavy air pressure. But when it gets cold anything wet and under 32 degrees it is gonna freeze. Like Nick said after blowing hard at some birds turn the call around and blow thru the insert then stick your calls in your coat.

I am a salivator also. I have a few calls that don't stick when wet. But they didn't ost me more than $10. And are extremely hard to blow. LOTS OF AIR!!!
But, I have figured out why mine was as bad as it was. I took it apart in the dark to dry the reeds and tone board, and had the top reed upside down. That was all my fault. I received a tip from another staffer to put the tone board on the top, and the reeds on the bottom when blowing it. It should help with the "sticking". Also, I kept my DMM in my jacket pocket when I wasn't on it today, and that helped out HUGE!!!
What I do know, is that we were able to call a flock of sucks away from two guys with two robo ducks, and we didn't have one out! The call is freak nasty on ducks!!!!

Like Nick said..ALL and I mean ALL calls stick. After blowin' my head off at ducks...I spend down time w/ a dollar to clean out my spit. What the hell..ain't nothin' else to do. DMM is awesome..but again..sticking can't be avoided. Wear your boots boys cause anyone who says their call doesn't stick when full of spit if full of SH!T.

I am a Foiles call junkie. Heck I bet I have bought over 40 Foiles goose calls and over 20 Foiles duck calls.
Kind of a hobby buy them in winter for 60 bucks on close out sell them on ebay next fall for double pays for my hunting trips.
I love the Foiles goose calls. I will not have a Zink on my lanyard anymore maybe a tuned stiff Grounds for practice.
I just experimented with my favorite duck call and submerged in water then blew it and it will not stick so I spit like crazy in it and it still will not stick. It cost 10 bucks and is the only call made with this design, not your typical barrel and insert. It sounds awesome and needs little air.

Ive found my legend calls do not stick nearly as much as other brands ive owned.I blow do the tone end when ever I think there may be some moisture in them and then I tap the barrel on my palm and normally a few reasonable size drops come out.

I've only had my DMM for a couple of weeks (all mallard green, #1093) and I'm NOT a contest caller. Last week I bought the "Callin' Ducks, 2.0" DVD. Those of you who have this DVD, know Jeff addresses the sticking issue quite extensively. One of his recommendations is to blow through the muzzle of the call while in between calling sets in order to un-stick it. It worked for me last weekend during the youth weekend up here in the north zone of Illinois.
As many of you have stated, the DMM is an awesome sounding call; very "ducky", to be more specific (I love that assessment). Anyway, to me, because it sounds so great; it's worth the trouble of applying a little more TLC. Kind of like a racing engine requiring more octane.

I offer just a few tips or tricks to help keep calls from sticking as much.
1. Keep em clean, after every session or hunt, run them under warm water and let them air dry.
2. If you are like me you serve breakfest in the blind. Often times a lot of sticking can be attributed to sugars in your mouth from your coffee, soda, or ho chocolate. Try to cut down on the sugar and donuts in the blind and you will notice a trimmer waist line and less sticking
3. occasionally run the dollar bill between reeds while hunting to get rid of spit and grime.
4. blow through the insert backwards, you will be surprised how much spit and water from condensation of warm moist breath in a cold call will come out.
5. Like others have stated keep your calls in your coat or bibs or my preference tucked into your waiders.
6. and lastly try blowing the call with your tone board postioned upside down. (reads facing the ground) this will let gravity help some by keeping some of the moisture of the reeds and tone board and on the barrel instead.
Hope this helps some. Good luck everybody, and like Nick said every call will stick sometime given the right mixture of moisture, sugar, and temperature.

i got the call yesterday. It has a great sound but it does stick alot :x . im not a good duck caller so that might have something to do with it. im going to try to get better. if not ill have to get a buck gardner spit tech.
Again the call does sound and look great.

I take back my earlier reply. Mine was sticking alot for the opener this past weekend (IL north zone). Very annoying.
I'll have to try some of Max4 Gooser's tips. Still a great sounding call though. Yesterday I had Redheads and Ringbills coming in to it.

Today was a little colder than the past few days (35 degrees). At first it was sticking on me. I then moved it inside my chest waders and it stopped sticking. It must have to do with the colder temps because it never happened in my car before the season started.
